born the 30th of March 1968 in Charlemagne, a village in the suburb of the Canadian city of Montreal, where the spoken language is french, Celine Dion is the last-born child in a family of fourteen. The father, Adhémar Dion, and the mother, Therese Tanguy, they managed a piano bar called " the Old Barrel "(“Le vieux baril”), where the members of the family performed forming a group called " A Dion and its unit "(“A Dion et son ensemble”). Other brothers and sisters formed independent groups, even though , Céline grown surrounded by partitions, songs, musical instruments; at Dion ,one listens to Janis Franklin, Jimmy Hendrix, the Beatles, Aretha Franklin, the Doors, Barbara Streisand and other popular , for example Ginette Reno, the most famous singer in Quebec at this time. Plunged in this atmosphere, Céline loves the music: so she begins performing first in the “Old Barrel"(“Le vieux baril”), and that’s thanks to her parents who did not want to disappoint her.

At five she sings at the marriage of her brother Michel (18th of August 1973), and she decides that she wants to become a singer once grown . The music becomes the barycentre of the life of Celine, so much that it influenced her school output: during lessons she was often a girl distracted, lazy, with her head in the sky which made her teachers think she had family problems ,so they sent a social assistant to the Dions .The result of the inspection was negative for sure, but it had stressed on the true problem of Celine, if one wants to say that it is a problem, it was the music, this one was the reason why she was absent and thoughtful during her lessons. So, The parents , in particular the mother, understood the situation of their daughter and decided to help her as possible.

>>1981

During January 1981,between the walls of their humble home, Therese and her son Jacques compose the first song of Celine, entitled " This was just a dream”( “Ce n’etait qu’un rêve”), and they begin searching for a producer . They will be addressed to Rene Angelil, best manager of Quebec at this time , to which they sent the song of Celine, recorded at least or worse.
René was the manager of Ginette Reno who, after four years of success, left him ,wanting to change her producer, causing his house of production to fall into bankruptcy, almost ready to close .Not receiving an answer, Michel telephones Rene, to have informations, negative also, and that’s how the impresario meets the band to which he didn’t even listen because of his critical situation; after giving them his attention by listening to their tape ,alone, locked up in his studio, unbelieving that a good voice could come from such a little child. He was astonished and enchanted by the voice engraved on the demo: he will even call for Céline for the same afternoon . The first time that Céline met Rene, she was only twelve years old , after a little embarrassment and sinistrality, being not accustomed to sing in front of only one person because generally she sang in front of a public, although modest, she begins singing "This was just a dream”( “Ce n’etait qu’un rêve”), impressing also her mother who had accompanied her that day with her profound interpretation .Striken by this interpretation, Rene realized that he had in his hand a lucky card , and he promised Therese that her girl will become a known star in Quebec and in France in less than five year . He contacted also Eddy Marnay, astounded also by the vocal power of the small girl, writing her the song: " the voice of the good God "(« La voix du bon Dieu »).

On the 19th of June 1981 Celine makes her first appearance on TV, in the TV program of the Canadian presenter Michel Jasim, and her first single is released: “ce n’était qu’un rêve” (« La voix du bon Dieu »). This summer at the Olympic Stadium of Montreal, Céline sing the Canadian and American national anthem in the occasion of a Match of baseball. The 9th of November 1981 the first album " the voice of good God " (« La voix du bon Dieu »).is released, composed of nine Christmas carols, written by Eddy Marnay, and which were carried out thanks to Rene who mortgaged his house of production to have the money necessary for the recording .

After three weeks came out the second album " Celine sings Christmas " (« Céline chante Noël ») ; Also in Fall 1982 " So much I have love "(« Tellement j’ai d’amour ») is released and so begins the rise towards the showbusiness: by representing France, with the song« Tellement j’ai d’amour », Céline wins the third Yamaha International Festival in Tokyo.
